BIO

Jungle Gym has been referred to as everything from “Backwoods Circus Metal” to being “like Marty McFly in Back to the Future when he breaks into his guitar solo and eventually tells a lost crowd ‘I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet’.” Whatever label you apply, their chemically imbalanced changes will jerk you right out mid head bang and drop you in a head-bobbing wonderland and have even lead to blasphemous dosey-doeing in the mosh pit. Their colorfully chaotic sound was cultivated in isolated Leesburg, Texas which consists of a local store and flashing light to slow down the occasional pick up truck passing through. The Jungle Gym spark ignited when vocalist/keyboardist Brian McNutt quit his job as an officer at the Texas Department of Correctional Facilities in Huntsville, TX where he was drawn into intimate conversations with Death Row inmates while serving them their “last meal.” He then returned to his hometown and began cathartically penning lyrics and exchanging recordings with his younger brother, Psyllo guitarist Dylan. After Psyllo’s lead vocalist disbanded for college, Dylan along with band mates and longtime friends bassist Jay Crocker and drummer Andy Long, united with Brian to forge Jungle Gym. They began recording in a trailer house cluttered with the multicolored flashing lights and grating noises of 2 year and under toddler toys. Brian produced their first album Fresh Wrapped Music utilizing primitive recording equipment out of financial necessity and also the desire for a raw production sound counterbalanced by creative techniques. However it remains the spectacle of their live show that truly leaves its witnesses dumbfounded with stage acrobatics such as Dylan playing guitar with his toes or Brian igniting his hair on fire. Progressing with increasing momentum, Jungle Gym continue to leave their mark on the experimental Rural Rock scene emerging out of the piney woods of Northeast Texas.
